Fiverr reported its third-quarter 2026 results on October 29, 2026, and two numbers in the release matter most if you sell services there. The marketplace had 2.4 million annual active buyers as of September 30, down from 3.3 million a year earlier. Over the same period, its marketplace take rate rose from 27.6% to 28.2%. Fewer buyers, and a slightly larger slice of each dollar that does move through the marketplace.
The buyer count fell by 25.8% in a year
According to Fiverr’s Q3 2026 results release, dated October 29 and posted as Exhibit 99.1 on the SEC’s EDGAR site, annual active buyers were 2.4 million as of September 30, 2026, compared to 3.3 million as of September 30, 2025, a decline of 25.8% year over year. The release defines an annual active buyer as someone who has ordered a Gig on the marketplace within the last 12 months, irrespective of cancellations.
The release does not name a cause for the drop in buyers. It does say the company faces search traffic headwinds from AI-related disruption to traditional SEO and SEM, but it does not tie that to the buyer count specifically, so treat the two as separate statements.

The buyers who remain spent more each

Services revenue, a separate line, rose 3.4% to $35.5 million.
| Measure | Sep 2025 | Sep 2026 | Change |

The take rate is Fiverr’s share, and it moved up
The release defines the marketplace take rate as marketplace revenue divided by gross marketplace volume for the period, and reports it over twelve months. For the twelve months ended September 30, 2026 it was 28.2%, against 27.6% for the prior twelve months.
That figure is not the same as the fee you see on one order. It is a company-wide ratio, so you cannot read it as a new seller fee. What it does show is that a little more of the money flowing through the marketplace ended up with Fiverr, across a smaller pool of buyers.
Fewer buyers makes each repeat client worth more to you
You do not control how many buyers Fiverr has. You do control how you handle each client once they hire you. If fewer people are ordering, each repeat customer is a larger share of your income, so your own records of who paid what, and when, matter more.
Check Fiverr’s terms before moving any client relationship off the platform. For another Fiverr policy that affects sellers, see our post on Fiverr’s AI disclosure policy, and for the same question on the other big marketplace, what to handle yourself when you leave Upwork. This post only covers what this quarter’s numbers add.
What a direct client expects you to supply
Inside Fiverr, the order page is the record of what was agreed. A direct client has no such page, so your own paperwork has to carry:
- A written scope and price before work starts.
- An invoice with your business details, an invoice number, a due date and payment instructions.
- A way to send reminders and record when payment arrives.
None of that changes with this earnings release. The release is a reason to have it ready before you need it, not a prediction about your next order.
Keep your own record of every payment, platform or not
Whatever Fiverr’s numbers do next quarter, your income records should not depend on a dashboard you do not control. Keeping your own invoice for each client, including ones that arrive through a marketplace, gives you one running total of what you earned and who paid it. A BillyPaid invoice takes a few minutes to set up and works the same for a Fiverr client as for a direct one.
